Hi, hello! My name is Megan and above is a photo of my husband John and me on our wedding day. We got married in July 2021 and are figuring out what it looks like to be a married couple who never stops dating (the #1 marriage advice we got leading up to the wedding).
I created The Married Couple to share date, decor, and faith tips for married couples. Keep reading to get a glimpse of who we are!
This post is all about who The Married Couple is.
Here’s a Little About Us
How We Met

John and I met at a Cincinnati brewery in 2019 about one month after I graduated from college, and about 4 years after John graduated from college. We connected on the fact that we were both graphic designers who worked on the same street downtown, as well as our shared interest in travel and adventure. He asked me for my number, we grabbed lunch the following Monday, and the rest is history!
Above is a photo from the day John and I met. Weird that we have a pic from that day, right!? I was snapchatting a friend and hit save before I sent it. Also strange that I have a stuffed snake around my neck… don’t ask.
The Engagement

After 11 months of dating, John joined my family vacation in Myrtle Beach. We had a family photo shoot planned for the second day, which ended up turning into John getting down on one knee and proposing to me! Obviously I said yes.
The Wedding Day

As I mentioned earlier, we got married on July 24, 2021 at a venue in Fairfield, OH. We were fortunate enough to be able to invite both of our immediate families, extended families, and our closest friends. Above is a photo of our wedding party at a park near the venue. It was the best day!
The Cross Country Move

While John and I are new to marriage, we’re experiencing some big changes right off the bat, forcing us to put effort into strengthening our relationship. Since we started dating, J and I have talked about our desire to move out west and to travel. A few months after he proposed, John accepted a position with a company located across the country in Oregon and we planned to move there after the wedding.
Two months prior to our wedding we flew out to house shop, and purchased a home. One month after the wedding we moved into our new home in Oregon. This has been one of the greatest adventures of our lives, but also very scary as you can probably imagine.

We’re now settled into our home in Oregon and are LOVING it! John loves his job, and I’m enjoying my work as well. Our favorite parts of our new life in the Pacific Northwest are the outdoor activities, delicious restaurants, and decorating our new home.
So Why The Married Couple Blog?
The idea for The Married Couple came to me when I constantly talked to John and some married friends about the growth we’ve been experiencing as a couple, and as individuals, this early in our marriage. The more I talked about it, the more I wanted somewhere to document and share our experiences, and the advice that we gain through them.
I created The Married Couple to share date ideas, home decor tips, and tips about faith in marriage.
We believe married couples should never stop dating so we provide dating tips.
The space you live in should be a space you both love to be in so we provide decor tips to help you make your space just that!
We provide faith tips to encourage couples to continue pursuing one another with Christ at the center of their relationship.
Married couples should encourage one another in all of these things, so we’re here to help you figure out how! Since we’re pretty new to this marriage thing we’re hoping to learn a thing or two along the way as well.
