Whether you’ve been married for years, or are newlyweds it’s important to consistently prioritize going on dates together. If you’re anything like John and me, you typically don’t have time to plan out a whole year’s dating calendar. As a couple who’s done a bunch of unique dates, we’re sharing our top two for each month of the year!
You are going to learn about the dating calendar app we use and the recommended dates we have for you.
After reading this post, you won’t have to plan any more dates for the rest of this year!
This post is all about exciting date ideas to add to your dating calendar.
Monthly Dating Calendar
Instead of creating your own love calendar 2022, check out these ideas to fill you and your partner’s calendar with! You’ll notice that for most months, I suggest one date at home and one date out. There are a few benefits that come with this.
Having at-home date nights is important for couples long-term date life because it won’t always be easy to get out of the house. It’s also cheaper to do a mix of date night locations.
One other thing to point out is that I chose affordable date ideas in most categories to make them more achievable and less of a burden.
Lets dive into the dates!
January Dates
Date 1: New Years Goal Setting
Make a couple mugs of hot tea or coffee, sit down, and talk about the goals you each have for this year.
Date 2: See a movie in theaters
December is one of the most popular times of year for movies to be released which is why January is a great time to bock some time on your calendar for a movie date night out! It’s so common now to choose to rent a movie instead of going to a theater to see one. Make it a priority this month to actually go to a theater and see a movie that was recently released.
February Dates

Date 1: Valentine’s Dinner
Whether you typically celebrate Valentine’s day or not, make it a priority to get a reservation for a nice restaurant to enjoy with your partner this year!
Date 2: Game Night In
Choose a few of your favorite games to play together, and have a game night in with some wine and intentional time. Here’s a post I wrote about John and my favorite games to play together.
March Dates
Date 1: Ap Night In
In the early months of March it’s typically still a bit too cold to get outside. I recommend making or ordering at least three different appetizers to split with your partner. (Empanadas are one of our fav ones to make! Check out this recipe, but we put our own spin and make it easier by using pre-made Pillsbury dough – so good!)
Date 2: Go out for a green beer
You CAN’T pass Saint Patrick’s Day without going out for a green beer! Research the spots near you that offer green beer. (And it’s often pretty cheap!)
April Dates

Date 1: Spring Cleaning
I know I know, spring cleaning is not glamorous, nor fun – so why would I recommend it as a date idea? When you recently started dating it was most likely fun to do the “mundane tasks” together because it was a glimpse into what life could look like if you stayed together long-term.
It’s important to keep mundane tasks exciting like they were in your early dating days. Make it fun! Turn on some music, dance a little, and knock out some tasks in a fun way!
Date 2: Easter Baskets
Set a budget, go to Walmart together, split up to fill baskets for one another. This adds an excitement to a holiday that’s typically seemingly more exciting for kids.
May Dates
Date 1: Mother’s Day Shopping
Before you go, talk about some of your mom’s favorite things. Try to think of sentimental stories you have with your mom that you could share with your partner to help them understand that relationship better, and help them understand what kind of gifts you’re looking for.
Be sure to ask your partner about their stories and ideas for a gift for their mom as well!
Date 2: Craft Night
Do some research to find a craft you think your partner would really enjoy! Once you find it, gather all the supplies and get this date on your calendar to make sure it happens!
June Dates

Date 1: Father’s day shopping
This one is super similar to the Mother’s day idea in May! Check that out for some inspiration here.
Date 2: Backyard Picnic
Set up a romantic dinner table in your backyard – go all out! I recommend getting table clothes, a candle, some flowers, and of course some delicious food!
July Dates
Date 1: Watch Fireworks
During the month of July, especially at the beginning of the month, there are so many different firework shows. Research some that will be happening local to you and get it on your calendar to go with your partner! This is such a fun, affordable date night.
Date 2: Kayaking
Find a local kayak rental place, make a reservation, and go kayaking with your partner. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
August Dates

Date 1: Repurpose Furniture
There are two options here. If you need a piece of furniture for your home, you could look specifically for that. If not, you can look for ANYTHING and plan to sell it on Facebook Marketplace afterwords.
Go to a Thrift Store, find what you want to repurpose, and head to Lowe’s and/or Hobby Lobby to get the materials you need to make your repurpose happen. Be sure to watch a couple Youtube videos to make sure you’re not missing anything!
Date 2: Go on a Hike
Search a local trail (or park) and head there for a day of hiking. Be sure to pack some sunscreen, bug spray, water, and snacks!
September Dates
Date 1: Make a Blanket
Decide what you need a blanket for, go to Michels or Joann Fabrics, and pick out two pieces of fleece fabric that will look good together for a Tied Fleece Blanket. Here’s a video on how-to create this if you’ve never done it before!
Date 2: Pumpik Patch
Do some research to find out where some local pumpkin patches are and choose the best one to put on your calendar. Put on your jeans and flannels and get ready to pick out some pumpkins and get some cute photos!
October Dates

Date 1: Halloween Costume Planning
Sit down with your partner and talk about some ideas for halloween costumes. Once you agree on one, head to a thrift store and see what you can find that’ll work for the outfit. If you don’t find anything there I recommend getting craft at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.
Date 2: Halloween Movie Night
Put on some cosy jammies and watch 2–3 halloween movies that bring you and your partner back to your childhood!
November Dates
Date 1: Corn Maze
This one is similar to the pumpkin patch I recommended in September. Check out that section for some inspiration. I also recommend checking if there are any hay rides that you could book for the two of you!
Date 2: Make a Thanksgiving Meal Together
Instead of waiting till you go to your annual thanksgiving plans, I recommend making 2–3 of your favorite thanksgiving dishes together to enjoy!
December Dates

Date 1: Last-Minute Family Christmas Shopping
Sit down together and write a list of all of the people you still need to get something for. Jot a couple ideas down of what you could get them, and head to your favorite stores to fulfill these lists!
Date 2: CHRISTMAS CRAFT DAY
Do some research to discover fun Christmas crafts and pick up the materials needed from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Here are two of our favorites to create: Sock Gnomes, Christmas Ornaments.
